![]() To pack a punch, I like to go coilguns early to fill the rest of the hull slots, then switch to plasma later on. Lasers aren’t great at taking down ships until you get to UV Phasers. I like using a couple of hull PD and then nose lasers because Aliens love spamming missiles. I think the best antimatter propulsion system for your buck uses Advanced Antimatter Plasma Core and the corresponding drive which I can’t remember the name of. Late game fleets I like to use Antimatter, but not the Pion Torch as it is too expensive. Later on once you have some exotics, Zeta Helion is nice for mid game fleets. Oh well, bigger and better are on the horizon.įor my first actual combatant ships, I like using Advanced Pulsar Drive if you can unlock it. Between the very low required power and high Exhaust velocity, I might have had a use for it. Pardon the rambling, I am open to helpful suggestions!Įdit: Just checked, I had done VASIMR, but apparently failed the percent chance for Pondermotive. Gotta check what I am working with when I get time to boot the game up again soon.Īlso, I'm about to complete some of the earlier fussion techs, so maybe I'll just end up skipping this line? I really gotta optimize my tech path a bit, specifically when it comes to drives, it seems. And that's only with a couple dozen front armor and a token amount of side and rear armor.Īlternatively, maybe I'm just trying to stack too much armor for these drives. But trying to make a ship with more than 12 Delta V would take huge amounts of fuel. Because I have end game armor, close to end game weaponry. I wonder if I clicked 'ignore' on an option which would have led me to this drive tree. You know, I'm pretty deep into my current game, and yet my drives still suck. If you have enough coils in the sky, they can't PD them all, and they will kill mother ships. I ran dreadnoughts, 3x1 slot coils on the nose, 1x4 slot Laser battery, the rest 1 slot batteries and PD. Next gen defence, and killing bigger alien ships: Range is not great, but decent nose armor and near perfect PD should win the fight. (Escort or monitors)ġst defence fleet: lasers. but way better than the past drives, plus very efficient.Īfter that Icarus and Daedalus, but that is later game.Įarly (shoot down a lone destroyer) missiles and some PD lasers. This still won't give you more thrust then the aliens. Next.up, Zeta Helion, wait for Flow Stable Z-pinch or your radiator will take tons of metal. (Tried Triton pulse, but they take too much water, and the better thrust isn't enough to make them usefully IMO) This allowed ships to patrol inner planets, attack and defend Jovian system, and out dV aliens. Then I got Triton Reflex, and the hydrogen slush mod. Pulsar & Advanced Pulsar are also good early. Decent, but not great, and a small defence group with them is ok early. I agree, the VASIMR then pomderM can get you around with out burimg tons of resources. The hard part: drives/power need their own guide.I can only speak to the path I took. The easy part: (very good, not to deep in the tech tree, and does not really go obsolete.)
